Name = EasyAIFF 1.2.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Music:D-E:EasyAIFF 1.2.sit
Size: 59K Date: 6/10/95
Description:
EasyAiff 1.2 - EasyAIFF is an application which plays AIFF files. It is
very easy to use. Just drag an AIFF file on its icon or doubleclick on the
AIFF file and it is played by EasyAIFF. If you drag more than one file on
EasyAIFF, a dialog is displayed where you can move between the different
files by clicking on the buttons with two arrows either in right or left
direction. All buttons in EasyAIFF should work as you expect them to work
- like on a CD-Player.
Name = GrabAudio 1.2.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Music:F-G:GrabAudio 1.2.sit
Size: 40K Date: 6/09/95
Description:
Grab Audio 1.2 - This is GrabAudio, a program to read digital audio
directly from CD and save it on disk. It requires - System 7 or higher,
CD-ROM software version 4 or higher, an Apple CD300 CD-ROM player or
better. The program works very simple. Insert an audio cd in the CD300,
and start the program. You will now see a list with the track names and
the track durations, and some controls. You can choose the track by
clicking on the track name or by scrolling to it using arrows, scroll bar,
page up/down and begin/end, or by typing the first characters of the name.
Then, make some selections - stereo or mono, 11k, 22k, or 44k, and which
part of sound, and then save it to your hard drive.
Name = MacAssist 1.0b3.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Music:M:MacAssist 1.0b3.sit
Size: 43K Date: 6/08/95
Description:
MacAssist 1.0b3 - Live assist digital audio software. My involvement with
the Engineering Department at WITR, (the campus radio station at the
Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester NY), had me searching for a
digital replacement for the station's 'cart' system. I realized that all
we really needed was a system that could play 16 bit, CD-quality sound
files in real time from a very large hard drive or hard drives and
software to handle hard drive back ups and sequencing the items to be
played. Again I realized that these tasks would be simple and inexpensive
to achieve with the Macintosh and its operating system. So, here it is!
Name = MacBPM 3.0.1.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Music:M:MacBPM 3.0.1.sit
Size:180K Date: 6/08/95
Description:
MacBPM 3.01 - MacBPM is an interactive bpm (beats per minute) counter.
Therefore it is probably only useful for DJs, who want to determine the
speed of a music title. There are two different ways to find out the bpm
rate with MacBPM - BPM Time-Recording (BPM Counter...) - The user has to
enter the beats for a certain period of time, while the computer is
couting them. During this process, the program permanently determines the
actual bpm rate. BPM Beat-Recording (Quick BPM Counter...) - In this mode,
the user has to enter a certain number of beats. The program calculates
the bpm rate using the number of beats and the time, which is used for
entering these beats.

FilePlay. The Musician 2.0 plays 'snd ' resources from any file. You can

if 'snd ' resources not exist inside the current examined file, you can

A, B, C, D, E, F, G on the guitar. Major, minor, minor seventh, sixth,
seventh, ninth, 13th, diminished, augmented, and major seventh chords for
each key are included. A color coded system is used to show what string,
finger, and fret are used for each chord. There is also a built in guitar
tuner for tuning your guitar. This is a color HyperCard stack and requires
at least 2100K be set aside for it. You must also have the HyperCard 2.2
player or program on your hard drive.
Name = SoundView 1.08.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Music:So-Sz:SoundView 1.08.sit
Size: 42K Date: 6/05/95
Description:
SoundView 1.0.8 - This FREEWARE package allows the user to view the
time-wave and frequency spectrum LIVE from any Macintosh sound input
device. Real-time display is possible on faster Macintoshes; display rates
of >110 frames per second are possible on a Power Mac 8100/100; 30 fps on
a Quadra 950. A Waterfall, or raster plot of previous spectral history, is
presented in a separate window. Recording and playback of monophonic 8-bit
sound is supported; a spectragram can be made of the captured data;
whether recorded by SoundView, or imported from any sound file. A readout
provides the frequency value of a point specified by the mouse cursor.
Name = SoundEffects 0.9.2.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Music:So-Sz:SoundEffects 0.9.2.sit
Size:384K Date: 6/05/95
Description:
SoundEffects 0.92 - SoundEffects is a powerful sound editor. Its strength
resides in the capability of applying many digital effects to recorded
sounds, and since the effects are plug-in modules, you can enhance the
program at any time by just adding any new modules as they become
available. Not only can SoundEffects change sounds in many ways through
its variety of effects, but it can also handle multi-channel sounds,
sampled at any rate up to 64kHz and with any sample size between 1 and 32
bits. Recording rate and sample size are only limited by your Mac or your
sound input device.
Name = 16-bit sounds.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Music:A:16-bit sounds.sit
Size:1226K Date: 5/30/95
Description:
16-bit Sounds - This is a small collection of CD-quality sounds that might
be useful as system beeps, if nothing else. Naturally, your Mac should have
16-bit sound hardware, and a connection to decent speakers, in order to
hear them to full effect. Note that, since they were sampled at 44100 Hz
and 16-bit quality, they are rather largeabout four times the size of
similar sounds sampled at more traditional Macintosh quality levels. For
this reason, they are not stereo soundsthis would have made them twice the
size again. The musical motifs are from a variety of sources. All the
sounds come from a Korg X5 synthesizer (using just the General MIDI
presets), sampled through a NuMedia2 sound card in a Mac Centris 650....
Name = StartUp Crash Beeps 1.1.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Music:So-Sz:StartUp Crash Beeps 1.1.sit
Size:329K Date: 5/26/95
Description:
StartUp Crash Beeps 1.1 - I had always wanted a collection of the Apple
Start-Up Sounds. I have never seen one on the Net, so I gave up and
digitized my own. Some of the sounds I am unsure of, as I did not digitize
the Power Macintosh Card sounds. I have heard that the Quadra AVs and
possibly some other Apple computers have Start-Up Sounds which are not
contained in this collection. If this is the case, I would appreciate
being contacted about them. The Start-Ups are the normal beeps that occur
when any Apple computer is turned on. The crashes are produced by hitting
the Programmer's Key during boot up. It also occurs during boot up when
some low-level hard drive errors occur.
Name = ModPlayer 1.3.3.sit

colors/grays, External speakers/headphones. Supported file formats -
various MOD formats, Oktalyzer and MED/OktaMED.
Name = SoundShrinker.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Music:So-Sz:SoundShrinker.sit
Size: 10K Date: 5/26/95
Description:
SoundShrinker.sit - Soundshrinker is a small application that converts
sound files (not resources) to lower sampling rates by copying every 2nd,
3rd, or 4th sample to an output file. This results in a dramatic decrease
in the amount of disk/memory space a sound occupies, with the tradeoff
being a decrease in the quality of the sound. It's primary usage is to
convert 22k sounds to 11k.
Name = Speed Beep 2.0.6.sit
Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Music:So-Sz:Speed Beep 2.0.6.sit
Size: 54K Date: 5/26/95
Description:
Speed Beep 2.0.6 - Speed Beep is a System Extension that changes a number
of things about the way your Macintosh beeps. Despite its relatively large
size on your disk, it takes up very little precious memory (less than 16k)
compared to other utilities such as SoundMaster, and its actually useful
(!) in addition to being another entertaining Mac novelty. Speed Beeps
main purpose is to allow you to continue working while a beep sound is
playing. This is obviously useful if you like to use longer beep sounds,
but it also comes in handy if your Mac beeps a number of times in a row,
even with a short beep sound set. If you wish, you can also use the Speed
Beep control panel to choose a group of sounds from which Speed Beep...

your Macs Sound control panel. Youre limited to 10 seconds, and if you dont

can also use it to modify or replace the sounds in most games and
applications.

Talking Eggs 1.0 - This application is a quick and dirty hack. It speaks
the phrases stored with each of the new MacinTalk III voices. Instead of
the usual description the comment for each voice is a funny or strange
phrase. This kind of hidden information is usually called an 'Easter Egg'.
Talking Eggs requires the Speech Manager 1.2 with one or more of the
MacinTalk III voices made available by Apple. You can use it with System
6, provided you have the Speech Manager installed, but for practical
reasons you need System 7 or later. Some people complain the MacinTalk III
voices are getting chopped up and are difficult to hear. It appears one
needs at least a Quadra to have the speech work properly...

sources of Tempo. Complete instructions are included.

SoundCaser 1.01 for 7.1 - SoundCaser is a quick hack I wrote to take my
sounds off the System file under System 7.1. It works pretty much like the
old Font/DA Mover but it moves sound resources intead of fonts. In fact,
creating a new sound file will create a font suitcase with a custom icon
that makes it look like a sound suitcase; moving this suitcase inside
System 7.1's Font folder (inside the System folder) will make the Mac
believe it's a font suitcase, so it will be opened and all its sounds will
be available in the Sound control panel right away. All this could be done
manually with ResEdit, but it's a lot easier to do it with SoundCaser.

once you've saved the sound there's no way to loop it from the Finder.
Many of my sounds don't even sound good if they're not looped, so I wrote
this little application to play my loops. Just drop a System 7 sound file
on LoopSound's icon and it will be played forever (until you quit
LoopSound or drop another sound on it). System 7 is required.

Parrot 1.0b1 - The author wrote this hack for a Halloween party. This was
in the confusion room. A microphone picked up sounds that guests made, and
at random intervals, they heard their own voices played at other parts of
the room. The hack listens to the sound input device and remembers
everything it hears (that is loud enough) and then plays those things back
in a random order. If your Mac has stereo capability, then it also
randomly chooses a speaker to play each sound. The more memory the program
has allocated, the more sounds it remembers. Source code is included.

Double-clicking on a list item, or selection of several will open a window
for each voice (up to 10 voices). When a sound window is in the front of

frequency related to the ASCII of the key. The author's fascination with
those cool amiga MOD files lead him/her to do this.

saved as the name of the movie, with an '!' after the original name. To
change the creator of the file, use ResEdit to change the 'TEMP' 128

Path = AMUG 15.2:Files II:Music:C:Coconut Info® Beep.sit
Size: 5K Date: 2/05/92
Description:
After several years of engineering we have come up with the most pleasant
of beep sounds...particularly suited for a business interest or home
environment where even the standard beep tone can turn into an annoyance.
We didn't deviate too far... meaning we followed the original beep sound
guidelines of replicating the tone of a jet liner when the 'no smoking' or
'fasten your set belts' sign lights up. Descriptively speaking it is a
bell sound with no attack, sustained decay, then a gentle release. Just
drop the file on your system folder (and it will go in your System).
Configured for System 7 users only (just use it as prescribed), but
resource hacks can move it in earlier systems.

Description:
Launch - switching startup sounds and screens. There is no easy way (that I
know of) to switch StartupSounds. This program runs at startup time and
renames files if the following conditions are met. First, the system
folder must be named System Folder. Second, the sound files must be
renamed to .Soundx where x is a letter from A to Z. The file and folder
names are case sensitive. If one has eight SUS's, then the files should be
named .SoundA thorugh .SoundH. The first time through, .SoundA will be
renamed StartupSound. The next time, StartupSound will named back to
.SoundA and .SoundB will be named StartupSound. And so on...
